This photograph was taken during a trip to Turks and Caicos in 2019, when my wife and I were enjoying a little time away before the arrival of our first daughter.

It was our babymoon, one last vacation as a family of two before beginning an entirely new chapter of our lives.

Turks and Caicos was the perfect place to slow down and enjoy the moment. The beaches were beautiful, the water was an almost unbelievable shade of turquoise, and there was something peaceful about simply sitting by the ocean with nowhere in particular to be.

I remember being drawn to this little boat floating just offshore. Against the brilliant blue sky, scattered white clouds, and layers of turquoise water, it made for a simple composition that captured everything I loved about the scenery.

Looking back at this photograph now, it means a little more than it did when I first took it. At the time, I was simply photographing a beautiful beach. Today, it reminds me of a special trip with my wife and the excitement of everything that was about to change.

Photography has a way of doing that. Sometimes an image becomes more meaningful with time, not necessarily because of what's in the frame, but because of everything happening around it.
