Emerald Bay — Lake Tahoe

A summer view overlooking Emerald Bay, one of Lake Tahoe’s most iconic landscapes. Surrounded by towering pines and deep blue water, Fannette Island sits quietly at the center—a small landmark in the immense beauty of the Sierra Nevada.

This photo was taken during a family trip to Lake Tahoe in 2019. On that trip, we also announced to my wife’s family that we were expecting our first baby.

Most of my luggage was, of course, photography gear, and I had already researched several spots where I wanted to take pictures. This location was much quieter than some of the other places I’ve photographed, so I simply pulled over on the side of the road and set up.

I actually came back to this spot a couple of times to photograph it at different times of day. I’ll have to dig up those other shots.

Below is the simple setup I used for this photo.
